1974 Jensen Interceptor Mk III

1974 Jensen Interceptor Mk III

7.2-Litre Chrysler V8 | Automatic | 65,000 Miles

There are few cars that capture the spirit of 1970s grand touring quite like the Jensen Interceptor Mk III. Hand-built in Britain, styled by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan and powered by Chrysler’s legendary 7.2-litre V8, the Interceptor effortlessly combines Italian elegance, American muscle and British craftsmanship.

Registered on 16th April 1974, this impressive Mk III has covered just 65,000 miles from new and has been enjoyed by only seven previous owners. Finished in a striking shade of blue, it remains one of the most recognisable and charismatic British GT cars ever produced.

The Mk III represented the most refined evolution of the Interceptor, benefiting from improvements to the suspension, braking and interior specification, creating a car that was equally at home cruising long distances as it was turning heads wherever it arrived.

This particular example has benefitted from extensive recent mechanical investment, with over £4,500 spent with respected classic car specialist Robin Lackford Motor Engineering between 2022 and 2023. Work included major braking and suspension refurbishment, cooling system overhaul and general recommissioning work, ensuring the car is both enjoyable and confidence-inspiring to drive.

Recent Works Include:

  • Reconditioned front brake calipers
  • New front brake discs and pads
  • Stainless steel braided brake hoses
  • Rebuilt handbrake system
  • New Spax adjustable front shock absorbers
  • New upper ball joints and suspension components
  • New coolant hoses and cooling system service
  • Gearbox oil renewed
  • Differential oil renewed
  • New sump gasket and engine service
  • New spark plugs
  • Four new Blockley tyres
  • Floor repairs professionally completed
  • MOT and road test carried out following completion of works

With its vast wraparound rear glass, unmistakable styling and effortless V8 performance, the Jensen Interceptor remains one of the great British grand tourers. Increasingly sought after and offering exceptional value when compared to its contemporaries, it represents a unique opportunity to own one of the most distinctive classics of its era.

The years of manufacture are shown from the time each model was produced in the final prototype. However, it’s helpful to remember that a small number of cars fall outside of the production dates shown because they are pre-prototype releases, trials or realised ideas. The numbers of each model produced are best estimates, not exact figures. Even with these exceptions, all Pilgrim’s models have passed the necessary tests of their day and are fully road-legal, low-volume-production motor vehicles.
