1966 Ford Mustang GT Coupe – Silver Blue

Pilgrim V8 are proud to offer this incredibly original and highly documented 1966 Ford Mustang GT Coupe, imported into the UK in 2018 and presented in exceptional condition throughout.

Finished in attractive Silver Blue and retaining many of its original features, this Mustang represents a rare opportunity to acquire what we believe to be one of the most honest and unmolested GT Coupes currently available on the market.

Originally supplied by Burns Ford Inc. of Louisville, Kentucky, the car was purchased new by Mr Gerald H. Thomas on 23rd May 1966. Accompanying the vehicle is an impressive collection of original documentation, including:

  • Original Mustang Owner Identification Booklet
  • Original Owner’s Manual
  • Original Ford Sales Brochure
  • Spare Keys complete with what we believe to be their original factory identification tags

The history accompanying the car:

The History suggests that it was cherished by its first owner before being passed to his son, who was serving in the United States Air Force. Due to extended periods stationed overseas, the Mustang spent much of its life in long-term storage, helping preserve its remarkable originality. The vehicle was eventually purchased and imported into the UK in 2018, where it has had just one recorded keeper since arrival.

Whilst we cannot verify the mileage as genuine, it is noteworthy that the car currently displays just under 42,000 miles and recorded 39,638 miles at its first UK MOT in 2018. Having covered relatively few miles during its time in the UK, the condition and presentation of the vehicle would certainly appear consistent with a car that has led a remarkably sheltered life.

Upon arrival with us, the Mustang underwent a thorough inspection by our experienced workshop team, who were quick to highlight not only the quality of the car but also confirm it as an original GT model.

The underside and structure remain highly original and unadulterated, further reinforcing the authenticity of the vehicle. Recent specialist work includes:

  • Differential rebuild by Alan Mann Racing
  • Complete electrical rewire by a marque specialist
  • Original exhaust system faithfully recreated in stainless steel to factory specification

The original steering wheel has been replaced for usability purposes, although the factory wheel accompanies the vehicle and will be supplied with the sale.

To describe this car as merely well presented would be doing it a disservice. The care and attention lavished upon it over the years are evident throughout. During our collection of the vehicle, the Mustang completed a faultless journey back through Surrey and left a lasting impression on us as one of the nicest driving classic Mustangs we have had the pleasure of experiencing in recent years.

For collectors seeking originality, provenance and usability in equal measure, this GT Coupe presents a truly compelling proposition.

The years of manufacture are shown from the time each model was produced in the final prototype. However, it’s helpful to remember that a small number of cars fall outside of the production dates shown because they are pre-prototype releases, trials or realised ideas. The numbers of each model produced are best estimates, not exact figures. Even with these exceptions, all Pilgrim’s models have passed the necessary tests of their day and are fully road-legal, low-volume-production motor vehicles.
