Why choose the Cobra by Pilgrim?
One of our own Pilgrim Sumo Cobras.
2005 Pilgrim Sumo Cobra Mk3 – Bespoke Build | 5.5L V8 | Exceptional Provenance
Offered for sale is an outstanding 2005 Pilgrim Sumo Cobra Mk3, originally factory-built to special order for a former Lynx Helicopter pilot, constructed to his exacting specifications and finished to an exceptionally high standard throughout. Finished in striking Ford Pacifica Blue Metallic with White Le Mans racing stripes, this Cobra has real presence and period-correct detailing, complemented by 17” Halibrand style alloy wheels with spinners, chrome front and rear nudge bars, stainless steel roll bars, solid chrome fuel cap, and chrome side pipes. Power comes from a Chevrolet 305ci short-block V8, professionally stroked to 5.5 litres (335ci), producing approximately 300 bhp and 305 ft/lbs of torque. The engine was upgraded in 2011, including electronic ignition, new distributor, oil cooler, starter motor, steering gear, battery, and rear tyres—resulting in a strong, reliable, and characterful drivetrain with immense torque. The car was built using a 1990 Ford Sierra Cosworth donor car, retaining Cosworth front and rear suspension, brakes, master cylinder, and steering rack, giving it excellent road manners to match the performance. The interior is beautifully appointed in mild cream leather with dark royal blue carpets, featuring a full leather dashboard and door inlays, wood and polished alloy dashboard accents, push-button start, and a battery isolator and immobiliser for added security. Further custom touches include extra helicopter style switches and central dash mounted compass.
Further highlights include:
* Polished stainless steel header tank
* Steel-lined engine bay
* Braided hoses throughout
* Wet-weather soft roof kit
* Overnight cover
* Single DIN face off stereo, amp and speaker install.
The car has had 6 former keepers and comes with an extensive, meticulously organised history file, including documented build provenance, upgrades, and a large collection of receipts—clearly a car that has been enthusiast-owned and cherished.

The years of manufacture are shown from the time each model was produced in the final prototype. However, it’s helpful to remember that a small number of cars fall outside of the production dates shown because they are pre-prototype releases, trials or realised ideas. The numbers of each model produced are best estimates, not exact figures. Even with these exceptions, all Pilgrim’s models have passed the necessary tests of their day and are fully road-legal, low-volume-production motor vehicles.
