Why choose the 1966 Ford Mustang GT Coupe?
Discover a Rare 1966 Ford Mustang GT Coupé – Original California-Built Classic Survivor Car
This exceptional 1966 Ford Mustang GT coupé is a genuine California-built classic and a rare survivor car with all original factory options intact. Built at the San Jose Ford Plant on 16 December 1965, it was delivered to Ralph Williams Ford in Encino, California. The Mustang GT was purchased by its first owner in Van Nuys on 23 January 1966.
Unlike many replica or modified Mustang GTs, this example features authentic factory-installed GT equipment, including the highly sought-after GT rally pack, 5-gauge dash pod, original steering wheel, and unique fittings such as hanger bolts that cannot be added later. The original Mustang handbook is included, verifying its provenance.
Finished in classic Wimbledon White, this Mustang’s paint has been carefully restored to revive its bright original colour. It retains its factory 14-inch Rally steel wheels with beauty rings. Inside, the interior is remarkably well preserved with original seats, headlining, and carpet showing only minor signs of age—ideal for collectors who value an original survivor.
Under the bonnet, the engine bay remains untouched and original. It features the rare factory California smog equipment, preserved over 59 years. For enthusiasts looking to restore, Pilgrim V8 offers expert services to refurbish the engine bay, repaint components, and upgrade to show-car quality at an additional cost.
This Mustang GT comes equipped with desirable features such as power steering, front disc brakes, automatic transmission, and a centre console. It’s a perfect classic car for shows, vintage racing events, or even a prestigious Le Mans Classic tour.

The years of manufacture are shown from the time each model was produced in the final prototype. However, it’s helpful to remember that a small number of cars fall outside of the production dates shown because they are pre-prototype releases, trials or realised ideas. The numbers of each model produced are best estimates, not exact figures. Even with these exceptions, all Pilgrim’s models have passed the necessary tests of their day and are fully road-legal, low-volume-production motor vehicles.
