Following the harrowing discovery that his wife Kim’s cancer was inoperable, Rob Scholefield from Northampton put up his Ford Mustang for sale. In his own words, “I can get another car, but I can’t get another Kim.”
He hopes to raise £150,000 so that Kim can undergo private treatment of proton therapy. This radical treatment could extend Kim’s life to watch her daughters grow up.
Without prompting, the Facebook group SimplyMustangsUK set up a fundraiser for the family. Through auctions, raffles and public pleas, within 24 hours the group raised £13,000 and Rob Scholefield’s Bullitt-styled Ford Mustang found a new home with new owners.

Since, the couple has received support from Ford UK, various car groups, and national media.
The family acknowledged the public’s help in an emotional open letter, where they announce that possible treatments have been made accessible to Kim thanks to the spreading of their message, giving them new hope.
After months of humanity reaching extremes in all directions on social media, it’s refreshing to see networks being used the way they should be.
